Jet ski mechanic

I am a qualified jet ski mechanic in Virginia who provides specialized repair services on all makes and models of watercrafts. I have over 6 years of experience working on recreational vessels. My home-based shop is fully equipped with diagnostic software and advanced repair tools and supplies necessary to perform professional work for my regular customers and new clients. I am also an official watercraft parts dealer.

WHAT DOES PERSONAL WATERCRAFT REPAIR INCLUDE

Typically most repair service consists of the following 3 steps:

Step 1

INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC

Step 3

WATER TEST

1. inspection and diagnostic

personal watercraft and boat repair starts with INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC

Inspection and diagnostic services are mandatory procedures prior to any repair.

I only start projects after performing a general inspection and diagnostic first. Even if you already had it done somewhere else before you came to me or you think you know what the problem is, nevertheless I will require a general inspection and diagnostic.

Attention

In order to perform certain inspection and diagnostics, it may require to include repairs to some extent; for example, I can not start an engine and check compression if the jet pump is seized or the vessel has a nonfunctional fuel pump. Likewise, a diagnostic of the electronics may require bad wire harness replacement. You got the point.

Such unavoidable repairs are Not included to the $250 inspection price and will be billed separately.

Inspection and diagnostic are the separate services and are not included to repair price even if I take your project. In your invoice you will see separate column for this initial check up with it’s price.

2. repair

Standard repair procedure consists of the following steps

Step 1

Inspection and diagnostic is followed by an estimate for the repairs. I will provide you with a list of all issues I detect. The estimate includes: description, price for the parts, and cost for the labor.

Step 2

After agreeing on the list, I require a first payment equal to the price of the parts so I can order them.

Step 3

Then I order parts and a repair service is assigned.

Step 4

The cost for the labor is paid upon completion of the work. The customer is obliged to pick up the unit no later than 3 days after the end of the repair and/or estimate.

Attention

It's possible that during the repair process, I may discover other malfunctions which are not mentioned in the initial estimate. It does not happen often but it's possible.

In this case, I notify the customer to make an agreement whether we need any additional parts or work to be done.

Example: A customer requested jet pump repair, impeller, and wear ring replacement. And during the process I discovered that the drive shaft is completely rusted to the coupler. This required to order additional parts, such as a new coupler, coupler bearing, and drive shaft.

Additional repairs that have not been agreed with the customer in advance will have a discount.

Tip

Repairs can be performed with customer's parts, but there will be a surcharge. And the spare parts must be in a good shape. I do not install defective parts.

3. Water test

Jet ski water test to verify proper working condition

Jet Ski water test after repair VA

Water test performed after repair job completion.

Running jet ski with a garden hose is not considered a water test. This may only show potential leaks and let run the engine longer to perform other related inspections.

A fully fledged water test requires jet skis to be launched on open water to be run at a top speed for several hours.

I perform water tests at Columbia Island Marina in Arlington, VA.

Why you need a water test

  • It is the only way to adjust idling on a vessel
  • Check for hull cracks and leaks
  • Ensure good running condition at a high load
  • Test impeller for cavitation
  • Ensure proper cooling to avoid engine overheating
  • Examine steering drivability
  • Make sure you have a ready for water vessel
